Giuseppe Cappe was born in Milan in 1921 and he died in 2008. He has lived in the Como province of Milan and has a workshop /studio near the Royal Crown Porcelain Manufacturing Company. This artist has taken his inspiration from the Italian Barocco Alessandra Folk Tradition.
This is Giuseppe Cappe’s Neopolitan fisherman for Capodimonte. The wonderful weathered old man is smoking his pipe over a basket of his fish. He has expressive hands, his gnarled beard ends in curly-qs and his pipe is full of ash. No detail was missed. This is hand painted with gold trim This piece measures 9″ tall, on a 8 1/2″ X 7 1/2″ base and weighs 4 pounds 12 ounces. The bottom has the Capodimonte mark and “GC” for artist Giuseppe Cappe.
